stranger anxiety

Posted on: September 9, 2009

May showed it today for the first time. I took her to York college to see my old coworkers. At first she greeted everyone with smiles all around as usual, but after about 20 minutes of being surrounded by strangers up close, she started to fuss. At first she looked away, so I showed her the paintings on the wall. Then someone asked to hold her, and May was not happy. She looked at me anxiously and even though I stood close by to reassure her, she still threw her body over to me with her hands reaching out. She didn’t cry thought, just frowned. I quickly took her back, and she squirmed in my arms. So we went outside to look at the posters on the wall. Eventually I took her for a walk around campus to look at all the trees and touch some roses, and she was her happy self again
