I tasted my first apple when it arrived as a novelty item in VN back in 1988-89ish. It was a golden delicious and it tasted like crap – super mealy, due to being stored for months. I have now been in the US for 19 years and have eaten countless apples, but I daresay I just tasted a real apple this morning. I got a bag of red delicious from a local farm for $2.50 (not orchard). Yummmmmmmmmm. Son agreed. It was fragrant, sweet, refreshing, light, and applelicious, totally worth getting banished from Eden for. Son agreed. I have been buying local fruits since last year in this area, but the apples had just been pedestrian until now. I’m heading back to that farm stand next week for sure, and will be eating 3 apples/day. I might start May on solid a week early so she can taste “apple” apple. Gotta ask those people if they will still hae those fruits by the end of this month. They have other varieties of apples besides the reds as well.
