pasadena II

we walked. Nightly, or almost nightly – eveningly – afternoonly
we waited to see how May’s 2nd nap unfolded in the afternoon and then we set out for the streets. We shopped for groceries (a bit), ate out (a lot), and mostly, we laughed until I peed in my pants (postpartum occupational hazard). Last night An taught me how to say the “ch” in German. We both looked like idiots trying to pronounce it. Complete failure, but that was good for many rounds of laugher. Then we sang. I sang Kie^’p Nghe`o, An sang Xa Va(‘ng – on top of each other. It’s hard to keep the tunes straight, so we each had to bellow ours out – on the streets of downtown Pasadena. By the nth time and as we entered a dark street, as I was commenting on how May didn’t rub her head against our backs like she usually does, May started to do so. And then a few minutes later, An said “oy, she dropped.” She dropped while we were busy making awful noises, saying “let’s record this and pass it off as Vietnamese fine arts.”
