The flight down south was smooth. Thanks to the huge “FRAGILE” sticker that was on my tiny luggage, remnant of the flight to Oakland when I had Helen’s flower vase packed inside, it was the 2nd item to come out onto the baggage belt. May did well despite having slept merely 30 minutes inside Helen’s car. Since Jim left for Pisa, Helen, May and I got on this funky party schedule where the first partier (May) drops off anywhere between 1-2am, and then Helen and I would tie for around 3-4am. We would wake up to bid each other good afternoon, and then the vicious cycle continues.

Just today, i thought I could finally break the pattern, but May took hours to fall asleep for her nap (I didn’t let her nurse, that’s why). Once she did fall asleep, however, she slept for hours. It’s now past 8:30 and she’s still in the room.

It rained for 4 days in Berkeley during the 2nd week of our visit (further fueling our party schedule since we didn’t go anywhere). Southern California has been very beautiful – high 60’s to low 70’s at the moment – but seems like the rain will kick in Sunday and Monday. I have May’s beachwear all packed, but I’m not sure about it now, with tsunami warnings and all. Better stay away to be safe.
